First Book in a Decade: Every Day by David Levithan

I can barely recall the last time I read a book of any nature, intently or in passing. While I have never been the bookworm like some people, I also find interest in select types of books, particularly those with unique topics or plots, those that provide witty humor, those that feed the soul, and those that do not seem to hard to swallow.

A friend was reading this novel two or three days ago, and as I always do, I borrowed the book to read the back cover, where the gist of the story is usually written. If it interests me, then I might give time to read it, but if it doesn’t, thanks. I am sure I have seen that book before, I felt. Long story short, I am giving this my time.

every day

Every Day by David Levithan did not disappoint, and was worth the whole day of reading. The peculiarity of the subject matter, the circumstances, the main character A, did not hinder it from relaying very salient facts and insights about life, how it must be lived, how things must be valued, how we treat people, and how we see ourselves.

“We all want everything to be okay. We don’t even wish so much for fantastic or marvelous or outstanding. We will happily settle for okay, because most of the time okay is enough.”

Inspiring, though-provoking. Two thumbs up! ‘Til the next random book! 🙂
